Naturescapes

NATURESCAPES is an EU-funded research project on ‘nature-based solutions’: interventions that use the properties of nature to address multiple environmental and social challenges. Involving a transdisciplinary consortium of universities, consultants, and NGOs, NATURESCAPES is investigating how nature-based solutions are being implemented in cities and their hinterlands around the world.

As a postdoctoral researcher on the project, I am carrying out a case study on nature-based solutions in Dublin, Ireland. Using fieldwork, interviews, and policy analysis, I aim to understand how people are working with nature to try to protect or improve the urban environment. I am particularly interested in everyday imaginaries of urban nature and the green, socially inclusive futures being dreamed up by community groups and individuals working in this space.
